Mosgaard PX Cask

Advent day 12

These reviews are the first ones I attempt and are part of the advent calendar me and my good friend Jim made for each other. These 24 whiskies I’m trying will serve as a “bootcamp” for getting me started on reviewing my whisky. As such I hope the reviews will improve over time. To clarify the process; this is a blind tasting and the post title and category is set after the reveal.

Nose
Complex with a lot of scents. Butter, vanilla and cinnamon. Almost like a cinnamon roll. Some nutmeg too and just spices in general. Very pleasant.
Score: 23

Palate
Sugary sweet and a lot of spices. A little bit of honey as well as coffee. Quite oily mouth-feel leaving a little bit of a membrane at the roof of the mouth.
Score: 22

Finish
Initial finish is like burnt toffee and then it evolves into a lot of coffee. Almost like the aftershock of a great espresso! I also get a sense of dark chocolate.
Score: 23

Body
Spicy with a lot of warmth and almost no peat.
Score: 22

Total: 90

Guesses
Sherry casks finished in rum casks or possibly oloroso. 46%. Could be a lowland single malt or maybe one from netherlands.

Personal note: Wowsa! My first ever Danish whisky and it was great! Going to have to get myself a bottle some time.
