Day 11

High Coast, Timmer

Sweden Single Malt, 48% ABV

The Timmer expression from Sweden’s High Coast distillery is made up of 100% peated malt – no wonder then that it’s nickname is Peat Smoke! Timmer is Swedish for ‘timber’, and the single malt was aged in first fill bourbon barrels for around six years. The whisky was bottled at 48% ABV in 2019, and released as part of the distillery’s Origins series, with an outturn of 12,764 bottles.

NOSEThrough grassy, creamy malt there’s tropical fruit, citrus zest, crumbly vanilla biscuits and layers of elegant peat smoke.
PALATEA generous burst of warming smoke opens the palate, then smoked bacon, dried apricot, milky coffee and buttery fudge follow. Crystallised ginger adds bite, with boiled sweets and oak char emerging underneath.
FINISHBurnt buttered toast and sweet toffee linger, with a little drying oak.
